Job Description:

The mission of the North Dakota Center for Distance Education is to provide virtual education to support North Dakota's K-12 schools. It offers all students access to extensive educational opportunities, allowing them to achieve their personal goals and reach their full potential. Duties and Tasks

Summary of Work: We are seeking a highly qualified and dynamic professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, remote work environment to provide high-quality coaching and instruction to primarily high school students in a rapidly changing environment.

Position Description: Full-Time Temporary Multi-Endorsement High School Teacher, including Social Studies, 12-month position.

Hiring Salary: Salary will be based on the candidate’s educational credentials and years of experience.

  • Teacher I (holds a bachelor’s degree, Grade 105): starting at $23.00 per hour, 40 hours per week.
  • Teacher II (holds a master’s degree, Grade 106): starting at $27.50 per hour, 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ability and willingness to teach multiple courses across various subject areas simultaneously.
  • Employ technology effectively to perform assigned duties and engage students.
  • Provide support to students using multiple forms of communication, assisting them with reaching proficiency in course outcomes through ongoing coaching, assessment, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrates mastery of content area(s) and pedagogical strategies through the quality of feedback provided to students.
  • Engage in assessment and evaluation of course content and assist with the development of course assessments to align with North Dakota State Content Standards and enhance the quality of NDCDE’s curricula.
  • Support students with diverse backgrounds and unique needs. Implement IEPs/ILLPs/504s in a virtual learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, communications, and concerns.
  • Foster academic relationships with teachers, parents, learning coaches, and administrators to ensure a positive learning experience through professional and timely communication and data collection.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have the following minimum qualifications at the time of the interview:

  • Bachelor's degree  
  • Current ND Educator's Professional Licensure or ability to obtain this license upon being hired.
  • Endorsed, credentialed, or qualified to teach in Social Studies and one or more of the following secondary subject areas:  Physical Education, Mathematics, Science, or English. 
  • At least three years of teaching experience.
  • At least one year of experience delivering instruction in a learning management system (LMS)

In addition to the minimum qualifications, candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Proficiency in using and integrating technology in educational settings
  • Self-directed problem solver with a student-centered approach
  • Exhibit professionalism in communications
  • Ability to set professional goals based on student outcomes and identify and engage in ongoing professional development and other measurable steps to reach them  
  • Willingness to serve on committees
  • Willingness to quickly adopt to a dynamic education environment, frequently changing to improve quality and respond to stakeholder needs
  • Willingness to coach and support other teachers in content area(s)
  • Willingness and ability to obtain additional teaching credentials
  • Willingness to teach in the summer 

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to individuals:

  • Experience coaching and assessing students using a competency-based framework (e.g., Marzano)
  • Experience mentoring other teachers
  • Experience teaching for a virtual school
  • Multiple endorsements/credentials on teacher licensure; preference will be given to candidates for each area in which they possess endorsements/credentials in the areas listed under the minimum qualifications
  • North Dakota resident
