Position Title: Accounts Payable Technician
Location: Leidal Education Center
Department: Accounting
Reports To: Director of Accounting
Term: Ongoing 12-month position
Schedule: Mon-Fri Full-time

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Accounting, the Accounts Payable Technician provides support in the Accounting Department in the area of accounts payable and other areas as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
Collaboration:

Responds to vendor inquiries regarding payments and invoice questions by using the accounting system and checking copies when needed.
Provides backup support within the Accounting Department.

Responsibility:
Processes accounts payable transactions by receiving purchase orders in the accounting system and forwarding them to the Accounting Specialist for approval.
Calculates and processes vendor checks, ACH, and EFT payments and produces check registers to review.
Uploads all checks issued to the District bank as check batches are processed for the positive pay system to prevent fraud.
Processes requested accounts receivable sales invoicing.
Verifies VINs on repairs and maintenance of vehicles to ensure they are district-owned.
Processes all district credit card payments and works to increase purchases utilizing the District Purchasing Card program to increase revenue share through the State of ND.
Assists with filing of vendor payment records.

The employee may be required to lift up to ~30 pounds.
The employee must work with the public and various WFPS staff while simultaneously managing several competing demands.
The employee will work in an environment that has a quiet to loud noise level.
 
Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Previous office experience preferred.
Ability to use technology as a tool for record keeping, communication, and budget management.
Knowledge and experience using Microsoft products, including Microsoft 365.
Experience working in any ERP/Accounting system preferred.
 
Language Skills:
Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondences in the English language.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally, expressively, and reactively.
 
Other Skills and Abilities:
Exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgement.
Adhere to the assigned work schedule by maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
Ability to use computers and other forms of technology.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Salary: Position follows the  2024-2025 Classified Salary Schedule at B213. Starting salary begins at $18.70-$20.50 /hour, based on experience - https://www.west-fargo.k12.nd.us/departments/human-resources/salary
