Job Description:

Education: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency

 

Qualifications: Training in a security field plus experience in a high school or with high school students is preferred

 

Job Goal: Maintain safety/security for school, teachers, students, and staff.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Be in and around the building, including parking areas (all weather conditions), during agreed upon hours.
Establish positive rapport with students to encourage proper and responsible behavior.
Work with school staff on issues such as school safety, appropriate student behavior, and doing things necessary to have a school run smoothly.
Enforce school policies and expectations as set forth by the Grand Forks School Board, District Administration, and principals.
Assist the School Resource Officer (SRO) in dealing with conflicts and to follow up on crimes or violations of policies (citizen’s arrest, smoking, vandalism, theft, unexcused absences, etc.).
Work with students, teachers, and principals on a regular basis to prevent potential problems.
Report to the office all situations which may escalate into major disturbances completing written reports on incidents filed.
Report to supervisors on a regular basis to keep them informed about the overall behavior of the students and to keep lines of communication open.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the district supervisor. 
 

Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and stand. Lift sixty (60) lbs. occasionally, with the ability to reach, stand, walk, carry, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, and/or crawl. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely.  Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

 

Terms of Employment: Nine (9) months, academic school year. Will be expected to supervise special events in the evening.  


Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the Building Associate Principal.
