Job Description:
JOB GOAL:
The school bus driver is responsible for safely operating the school bus according to a set daily schedule. He/she must ensure that the school bus is in good operating condition at all times, pick up and drop off students as per the schedule, maintain order and security on the bus, and obey all laws, regulations, and rules of conduct.
The school bus driver must also deal with residents and members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner. This includes receiving complaints about schedules and levels and quality of service. The School Bus Driver must make note of and report on any such complaints and respond in a respectful manner.
It is critical for the school bus driver to operate the school bus in a safe manner. Failure to ensure the safe passage of students to and from school may result in serious liabilities for the school district. Operating in an unsafe manner may result in injury or even loss of life, which would have tragic consequences for the community as a whole.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent
North Dakota driver’s license with necessary endorsements as required by the North Dakota Century Code and the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
Knowledge of highway and school bus regulations.
Pass a criminal history/background check.
Emotional maturity and stability necessary for working with children.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate the school bus in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with traffic regulations.
Operate the school bus on a regular schedule for route driving and on special occasions (extra- and co-curricular events and field trips), as needed.
Assumes responsibility for the safety of school children in loading, unloading, and transporting to and from school.
Perform daily safety and maintenance inspection to check the operating condition of the bus before starting on a trip.
Advise the bus mechanic or school administrator of any operational defects or any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
Clean the bus as needed – sweeping, cleaning windows, etc.
Ensure students are aware of the rules and responsibilities as passengers.
Maintain order and discipline on the school bus.
Make note of any behavioral or disciplinary problems.
Submit discipline forms to appropriate school administrator (elementary or high school principal) for behavioral and disciplinary infractions.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position constitutes an employee at will for the Stanley Public School Board of Education.

Salary Range -Per Hour
Shift Type -Substitute
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Sub Route Driver (With CDL and Passenger Endorsement) - $60.50/route
Sub Route Driver (Without CDL and Passenger Endorsement) - $57.14/route
Activity Driver - $0.40/mile and $10/hour non-driving time
