POSITION: Ojibwa Indian School (OIS) Paraprofessional
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 185 Days
LOCATION: Turtle Mountain Community High School
EVALUATION: As required by NDSCC and Belcourt School District #7 policy
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification/Licenses:
Must possess a paraprofessional certificate from the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction.
Preferred:
Associate degree in Arts, Science, Business, or related field.
Position Sensitivity Level: Low Risk

Punctuality, reliability, positive human relations skills; personal conduct appropriate to a positive role model for students in areas of lawfulness, behavior, and moral character.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Shows courtesy and respect to students, parents, members of the public, and other staff members in all face-to-face and telephone communications. Has the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals; understands written and oral instructions. Has the ability to communicate clearly in speaking to students, staff, and parents. Can prepare correspondence, reports, and other written communications in final format from oral instructions or from drafts, notes, or other documents ensuring grammatical correctness and spelling. Has the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written form (e.g., reports, business correspondence, newsletters, handbooks, and procedure manuals) within the school system to students and staff. Has the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written form to parents.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Can navigate using web browsers; can execute web searches and communicate via email. Understand basic file manipulation (open, edit, save, copy, cut, paste) and printing of documents. Can effectively utilize office-related applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Google Suite). Has knowledge of and ability to utilize local and network accounts. Can navigate/effectively use peripherals (e.g., interactive whiteboard, projectors, cameras, printers, pda, etc.). Possesses knowledge and ability to access and navigate web-based applications. Has knowledge or experience using students and other information systems(s).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach study skills.
Supply students with supplementary material to improve the skills taught by the instructor.
Coordinate daily lesson plans with regular classroom instructor.
Inform parents and students of student’s academic progress.
Assist students when working on computer assignments.
Increase student learning skills.
Read and study the approved project to understand the program.
Work with identified students for review, repetition, and drill reinforcement.
Provide knowledge of the testing procedures and interpretation of the test scores.
Meet with the teacher periodically to keep each other informed as to the progress of each student.
Provide instructional assistance to a group or an individual student, remembering initial instruction is the responsibility of the teacher.
Provide corrections and other clerical duties as assigned.
Assist with the development of supplementary materials.
Assist in maintaining a positive learning environment within the classroom.
Assist in maintaining a safe classroom and enforcing the student handbook.
Responsible to OIS classroom teacher and OIS Principal.
Perform other duties as assigned.

RANGE OF SALARY: Based on S1/S2 Salary Schedule 2024/2025
