POSITION: Turtle Mountain Community High School Football Head Coach
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Length of Season 2025/2026
LOCATION: Turtle Mountain Community High School
EVALUATION: As required by NDSCC and Belcourt School District #7 policy
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must meet the qualifications for the position.
Certification/Licenses:
Must possess a valid Driver’s License
Must have a favorable Background Check
Must be willing to obtain a certificate of completion for the “Intro to Coaching” course via NFHS.
Must be willing to obtain a certificate of completion for the “Safe Motorist Defense Driving Course.”
Must be willing to obtain a certificate of completion for “CPR/First Aid.”
Must be willing to obtain a certificate of completion for “Concussion Management.”
Must have a high school diploma or a GED.
Must have a working knowledge of the football program, which includes, but is not limited to, proper training techniques and treatment of injuries.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Shows courtesy and respect to students, parents, members of the public, and other staff members in all face-to-face and telephone communications. Has the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals; understands written and oral instructions. Has the ability to communicate clearly in speaking to students, staff, and parents. Can prepare correspondence, reports, and other written communications in final format from oral instructions or from drafts, notes, or other documents ensuring grammatical correctness and spelling. Has the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written form (e.g., reports, business correspondence, newsletters, handbooks, and procedure manuals) within the school system to students and staff. Has the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written form to parents.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Can navigate using web browsers; can execute web searches and communicate via email. Understand basic file manipulation (open, edit, save, copy, cut, paste) and printing of documents. Can effectively utilize office-related applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Google Suite). Has knowledge of and ability to utilize local and network accounts. Can navigate/effectively use peripherals (e.g., interactive whiteboard, projectors, cameras, printers, pda, etc.). Possesses knowledge and ability to access and navigate web-based applications. Has knowledge or experience using students and other information systems(s).
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The High School Head Football Coach will:
Be responsible for the High School Football program.
Work diligently in developing the fundamentals of football in each athlete.
Be expected to use the booklet presented to them by the head coach, as a guideline to their program.
Cooperate with the Athletic/Activities Director and be responsible for assigned inventory and equipment and ordering of all High School Football equipment.
Be responsible for applying training principles and practices that help foster the development of athletes in a football setting.
Demonstrate principles and practices of football.
Assist the Athletic/Activities Director and be responsible for equipment maintenance and upkeep.
Be responsible for checking the eligibility of athletes.
Be responsible for handing in and checking physical cards before the first practice session for each athlete.
Assist the Athletic/Activities Director in gymnasium maintenance and upkeep.
Be responsible for helping with home games if needed.
Be responsible for attending rules and coaching clinics as required by NDHSAA.
Be responsible for the supervision of athletes.
Be responsible for handing in and checking physical cards before the first practice session for each athlete.
Be responsible for reporting sports scores to news media.
Provide a list of all athletes to the Athletic/Activities Director at the end of the season.
Get necessary information on away trips to the Athletic/Activities Director.
Cooperate with the Athletic/Activities Director in developing a comprehensive football program throughout the school.
Oversee and coordinate with the Athletic/Activities Director the K-12 football program.
Hold staff football coaches’ meetings.
Be responsible for helping take athletes home on late-away trips.
Be responsible for submitting trips, meals, and lodging requests to the Athletic/Activities Director promptly.
Be responsible for ordering awards and issuing them at the athletic banquet. Attendance at the athletic banquet is required of all coaches. $200.00 will be withheld from coaches’ pay until completion of the athletic banquet and will be forfeited back to the district if the coach does not attend.
Submit a budget at the end of the season for the next year.
Evaluate assistant coaches K-12.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic/Activities Director
RANGE OF SALARY: Based on Salary Schedule 2025/2026
