Job Description:
Jamestown Public School District has an opening for an Assistant Kitchen Manager at Jamestown Middle School.
This is a full-time position working 9 months a year.

Basic Functions: Prepare food at their location. Serve food to the students. Provides leadership, support, motivation, and guidance to ensure that food quality standards, inventory levels, food safety guidelines, and NSLP guidelines are met. Assist with point of sale.
Duties to be performed:
Coordinates and delegates the work of Kitchen Assistants in preparation of daily menu items and kitchen tasks. Supervises in the absence of the Kitchen Manager.
Participates in the preparation and serving of food to the students. Including preparing and prepping food for distribution to satellite locations.
Maintain daily production records regarding the amount of food prepared, served, and left over.
Helps to prepare menu items according to standardized recipes and serve food in an attractive manner.
Practice appropriate and consistent portion control measures.
Trains staff and assists in monitoring tray accuracy, items on the tray meet reimbursable meal requirements.
Trains staff to maintain proper serving temperatures for hot and cold items.
Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen as directed by the Food Service Director and in a manner consistent with health department standards.
Practice safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
Help supervise daily cleaning of food service area, all kitchen equipment, washing and sterilizing of all dishes, silverware, and utensils for use/non-use of the facility.
Order groceries and supplies as needed weekly from vendors and the Food Service Director in the absence of the Kitchen Manager.
Maintain the collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion.
Check ALL food shipments into the school, signing invoices only after each order has been verified.
Receive, store, rotate, and put away delivered food and supply items appropriately and in a timely manner.
Collect money for breakfast, lunch, and ala carte and properly record it.
Help students enter their lunch numbers and enter the students lunch items presented by students and adults for lunch, milk, and ala carte items.
Run daily reports as required, balancing with money received.
Report any problems/discrepancies to the Cashier Manager in a timely manner.
Demonstrate organization and professionalism in fulfilling the responsibilities of the job.
Participate in food service staff meetings and/or conferences.
Complete annual training necessary to meet minimum Professional Standard hours.
Greet all students, faculty, staff, and visitors courteously.
Maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, parents, and the community.
Cooperate with and work in a courteous manner with co-workers and other personnel.
Dress appropriately for the position and work required as specified by the Food Service Director (Hairnet, cap, or wideband must be worn while preparing and serving food this includes aprons and glove use as appropriate)
Accept constructive criticism, feedback, and suggestions, and seek to improve performance.
Maintain confidentiality in the school operation.
Report immediately to the Food Service Director, Kitchen Manager, or the building Principal any problem or accident occurring in the kitchen or cafeteria premises.
Adhere to applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations, board policies, and administrative rules.
Must be willing to communicate with the Food Service Director, Kitchen Manager, Cashier Manager, Coworkers, Building Staff, and Delivery Personnel in a professional and respectful manner.
Specifications/Qualifications: Preference for high school graduate, but not required. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation and child nutrition guidelines. Must have excellent communication skills, a passion for exceeding expectations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
Physical Requirements: Some lifting, bending, standing, and/or sitting in one place is required. An Assistant Kitchen Manager will have the ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time, work as part of a team, and precisely follow health and hygiene practices. Required to follow the guidelines of The National School Lunch Program and The ND Department of Public Instruction.
The starting hourly wage for this position is $18.01/hour to $18.61/hour, depending on experience.
