Job Description:
Legacy High School is seeking a motivated and passionate High School Science Olympiad Coach to lead and mentor a team of students in preparation for regional, state, and national Science Olympiad competitions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in science, a passion for fostering student achievement, and a commitment to developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Responsibilities:
Team Coaching & Leadership:
Organize and lead practice sessions to prepare students for Science Olympiad events across various scientific disciplines (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, engineering, etc.).
Provide guidance and mentorship to students in both individual and team events.
Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages communication, teamwork, and mutual respect.
Curriculum Development & Event Preparation:
Develop and implement lesson plans, practice schedules, and strategies for each event based on Science Olympiad rules and requirements.
Assist students in preparing for specific events through research, hands-on activities, and mock competitions.
Ensure all team members are well-prepared for each event, including testing, building, and presentation components.
Team Management & Communication:
Recruit, organize, and motivate team members, ensuring that the team is diverse, inclusive, and engaged.
Maintain regular communication with students and parents, providing updates on practice schedules, competition details, and team progress.
Coordinate travel arrangements for regional, state, and national competitions, including logistics and team support.
Competition Day Support:
Attend regional, state, and national competitions as a coach and mentor, providing support to students during the event.
Ensure that all students are prepared and understand the rules and expectations for each event during competitions.
Celebrate achievements and foster a positive, encouraging atmosphere, regardless of competition outcomes.

Salary Range -$4,011.00 - $5,415.00 / Per Year
Shift Type -Part-Time
Please note - Coaches who hold an ND teaching license - wages are reportable to the North Dakota Teacher's Fund for Retirement (TFFR). The employee (coach) will contribute 11.75% of their salary and the District will contribute 12.75%.
