Job Description:

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 185 Days
LOCATION: Bus Garage
EVALUATION: As required by NDSCC and Belcourt School District #7 policy
 
$3,000 Sign-on Bonus to be distributed at Administrative Discretion

QUALIFICATIONS
Must have Class A or B Driver's License with passenger and school bus (P and S endorsement) and air brake endorsement to operate a vehicle 26,000 lbs. and over.
Must meet requirements set by the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction, NDCC, and 49 CFR 391.41.
High school diploma or GED required.
A current school bus driver's physical/medical card must be submitted on or before the entry-on-duty date of employment.
Must participate in on-site training.
Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc., related to motor vehicle operation, maintenance, and repair.
Ability to pass a District background check and a negative drug screen.

JOB GOAL
Transport students to and from school and other sites within the designated route(s).
Ensure the safety of student passengers while in a school vehicle.
Fulfill non-driving assignments as required.
  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate school buses or other fleet vehicles while observing safety procedures, rules, and laws.
Ensure all assigned buses and vehicles are in safe and proper working order.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs, including body systems, diesel and gas engines, brakes, tires, and more.
Respond to emergency service calls for stranded buses or other district equipment.
Recommend necessary repair parts and supplies to the supervisor.
Maintain shop area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition, including snow removal as needed.
Assist in the service and repair of other district vehicles as directed.
Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections for the assigned bus.
Record student counts and daily mileage for the assigned route(s).
Supervise students during transport and ensure compliance with confidentiality, privacy, FERPA, FLSA, and HIPPA regulations.
Acquire a minimum of 3 hours of bus driving training annually and complete a defensive driving course every 5 years.
Perform other non-bus driving duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Other related duties as assigned.
