SUMMARY
Under basic supervision, assists Native American students with MPS services provided by the US Department of Education Title VII grant program.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Provides assistance with Title VII students' coursework and homework.
• Monitors Native American students' work and performance, and assists with school assignments, including reading, English language, and math skills.
• Monitors student behavior and discusses with supervisor to improve student case management.
• Supports the relationship between the Minot Public School District and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, and District staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and District information; follows compliance rules governing child abuse; performs related duties as required or assigned.

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND one year of experience working with students; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge of:
• MPS policies and procedures.
• Rules and regulations of the US Department of Education Title VII.
• Methods and techniques for working with students with special learning needs.

Skill in:
• Assisting special needs students, and understanding special training needs.
• Following verbal and written instructions.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid North Dakota State Driver’s License is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in classrooms and school facilities.

This position is subject to the veteran's preference.

Salary Range:
