Job Description:

Morton Sioux Special Education Unit with Mandan Public Schools is currently seeking to hire Certified Occupational Therapy Aide or Occupational Therapist for the 2025-2026 school year.

Position Summary:
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant:
Under basic supervision of an Occupational Therapist, provides occupational therapy treatments and procedures for special needs students at MPS facilities.
Occupational Therapist:
Under general supervision provides and oversees Occupational Therapy (OT) services (and program development) in relation to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act for special needs students at MPS facilities.

Plans, oversees, prepares, and supports individual and group occupational therapy services and therapeutic
activities to special needs children, according to the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Conducts evaluations and screenings to determine student eligibility for OT services; participates in multidisciplinary team meetings to review assessments, develop goals, write IEP, and develop staffing and informational plans.
Documents observations and therapy results, compiles data, and maintains case
files; prepares reports for MPS Occupational Therapist Registered/Licensed (OTR/L).
Supports the relationship between the Mandan Public Schools and the general public by demonstrating
courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with clients, visitors, and School staff; maintains
absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and School information; follows
compliance rules governing child abuse; performs related duties as required or assigned.
Monitors supplies and assessment materials.  Maintains organization of testing kits, produces requisitions for materials/testing protocols, etc. as directed by department staff.

Implements/assists OTR’s/COTA’s in preparation and implementation of therapeutic activities for individual, group, and push-in to the classroom therapy services.

Reports To:
MSSEU Special Education Director

Minimum Qualifications (COTA):
Associate’s Degree in Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA); AND one year of experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Minimum Qualifications (Occupational Therapist):
Occupational Therapist Registered/Licensed (OTR/L) certification with the State of North Dakota is required. Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NBCOT) is desirable.

Starting wage for COTA is $21.02 - $23.82 per hour (wage based on sy 24-25; sy 25-26 is yet to be determined). 
Starting wage for OT is $78,231 - $84,055 per year (wage based on sy 24-25; sy 25-26 is yet to be determined).
