Term: Year-round 217-day contract following the school year
Schedule: Mon-Fri Full-time

ROLE SUMMARY: The Behavioral Health & Wellness Coordinator owns the planning and implementation of Behavioral Health & Wellness (BH&W) initiatives in areas related to their professional scope of responsibility. Through strategic leadership, the Coordinator will balance macro-level initiative planning with micro-level attention to program details, facilitate collaboration across professionals, develop professional learning opportunities, analyze program outcomes and make data-based decisions, assist with grant management, and more.
 
DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Department of Behavioral Health and Student Wellness seeks to provide effective, coordinated, and collaborative support for the growing behavior and mental health needs of students and staff district wide. This department supports district-based intervention personnel and programs (PBIS, Person-Centered Planning, Trauma-Informed Care, Mental Health, Counselors, Social Workers, Behavior Analysts, and Coaches) as well as coordination with outside providers for additional behavioral health needs. These are critical?prevention and intervention components of WFPS' Multi-Tiered System of support (MTSS) for social, emotional, and behavioral health. By working together, this department and its community partners can leverage best practices and provide proactive and responsive support across the district.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
Collaboration:
    Partners with school teams to implement MTSS-SEB systems to fidelity and provide consultation towards their building-level goals.
    Develops and maintains effective and positive partnerships with community agencies to facilitate a continuum of support for WFPS learners.
    Develops positive, effective working relationships with learners and staff.
    Coordinates building-level support staff to facilitate implementation of department initiatives.
    Collaborates with other district departments (e.g., Special Education, Curriculum & Instruction) to facilitate initiative development and implementation across settings and populations.  

Communication:
    Creates and leads professional development opportunities related to Behavioral Health and Wellness initiatives including behavioral programming, mental health and wellness, Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) interventions, or other appropriate topics.
    Utilizes ability to summarize interventions and programs into written communication. 
    Connects and shares ideas through appropriate/applicable formats to express thoughts and ideas with integrity.

    Reasons, interprets, and analyzes information to generate new knowledge and understanding.

    Remains up to date on latest research and trends in behavioral health and wellness initiatives nation-wide and disseminate as appropriate to facilitate the utilization of evidence-based practices.

Responsibility:
    Models and leads best practices in behavioral health and wellness initiatives, including crisis de-escalation and prevention strategies.
    Partners with building administrators to hire qualified candidates for positions within the Coordinator’s scope of responsibility. 
    Owns coordination for hiring when multiple schools are searching for candidates.
    Collaborates with other department coordinators to share responsibility for supporting district-wide department staff in core BHW operational functions such as:
        Data collection
        Referrals and deployment
        Communication and collective problem solving
        Etc.

    The employee may be required to lift up to ~30 pounds.
    The employee must work with the public and various WFPS staff while simultaneously managing several competing demands.
    The employee will work in an environment that has a quiet to loud noise level.
     
Education and/or Experience:
    Master’s degree in educational leadership, social work, counseling, school psychology, or another human services-related field. 
    Experience working in a professional setting with individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, complex social-emotional needs, or at-risk youth. 
    Experience in a leadership role in a school/clinical setting is preferred. 
    Experience leading large-scale initiatives or program development preferred. 
    Experience providing training to large groups preferred. 
    Preference is given to candidates who are board-certified behavior analysts, school psychologists, or have extensive experience providing mental health services to children and adolescents in a school setting.

Language Skills:
    Ability to read, write, and comprehend complex instructions and correspondences in the English language.
    Ability to read, write, and comprehend technical documentation and information.
    Ability to communicate effectively verbally, expressively, and reactively.
