Surrey Public School looking for a Full-Time Employee with split 7-12 Family and Consumer Science Teacher and Athletic/Activities Director duties for the 2025-2026 School Year

Essential Functions – Family and Consumer Science Teacher

  • Teaches knowledge and skills in family and consumer sciences, including nutrition, culinary arts, personal finance, child development, career exploration, and other related topics in accordance with state standards.
  • Promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical life skills through hands-on, project-based learning experiences.
  • Establishes a classroom environment that is safe, engaging, and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, fostering student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that align with educational standards and prepare students for independent living and future careers.
  • Incorporates real-world applications and community resources to enhance student understanding and career readiness.
  • Conducts ongoing assessments of student learning and progress, adapting instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
  • Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents regarding academic progress and expectations.
  • Maintains accurate records of student progress, grading, and attendance in compliance with district policies and applicable laws.
  • Continues to engage in professional development opportunities, including attending seminars, workshops, and professional meetings.
  • Collaborates with other staff members and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Manages classroom supplies, instructional materials, and equipment to ensure a well-organized and effective learning environment.

 

Essential Functions – Athletic/Activities Director

  • Develop, implement, manage and oversee all athletic and extracurricular programs ensuring compliance with school expectations, district policies, and NDHSAA rules and checklists.
  • Develops, manages, and communicates the scheduling of all student activities, athletic events, and competitions, ensuring minimal conflicts.
  • Plans and coordinates transportation needs for athletic teams and student activities ensuring timely scheduling and communication.
  • Organizes, schedules, and oversees workers for concessions, officials, referees, and ticket-taking at all on-site activities and events.
  • Direct supervision of all activities related to on-site games, activities, and events including scheduling, manpower, fundraising activities at events, and handling of discipline issues for fans and/or participants at events.
  • Maintains and coordinates the facility and gym space schedule prioritizing school-sponsored activities.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate coaching staff and activity sponsors.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate codes of conduct for coaches, participants and fans in accordance with district and NDHSAA rules to promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
  • Responsible for purchasing, inventory, record-keeping, rotations and maintenance of athletic equipment, gear, jerseys, and supplies as well as concessions equipment and supplies.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support athletic and activity programs ensuring financial sustainability and program growth in accordance with all district expectations, policies, laws and permitting while maintaining prompt and accurate records and reporting.
  • Manage budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and ensure financial accountability.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the school, parents, and the community to promote involvement in athletic and activity programs.
  • Represent the school at athletic meetings, conferences, and community events.
  • Develop communication and promotion strategies to keep stakeholders informed about activities, schedules, and achievements via social media, banquets, and the like.
  • Ensure student-participants meet academic and behavior eligibility and maintain a focus on education.
  • Address and resolve conflicts involving students, coaches, parents, and officials.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and risk management procedures.
  • Evening and weekend hours will be required for events and competitions. Travel may be required for athletic events and conferences.
