Job Description:
Surrey Public School is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and experienced individual to serve as our Business Manager. This role is essential in supporting the district’s financial operations, including budgeting, payroll, purchasing, and reporting. We are looking for someone with strong accounting skills and a commitment to serving the educational community.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day financial operations of the district.
· Prepare and monitor district budgets; develop budget guidelines and coordinate analysis.
· Work closely with the superintendent and school board on financial planning and decision-making.
· Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
· Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal financial regulations.
· Prepare budgets for board review and approval; submit annual budgets to county and state.
· Prepare and submit reports required for state funding (NDCC 15.1-27-02).
· Maintain accurate records; sort, file, and provide access to correspondence, reports, and documents.
· Supervise all district business operations, including audit coordination and internal audits.
· Supervise investment of district funds.
· Organize and coordinate all school elections.
· Verify compliance with payroll and financial program laws.
· Direct preparation of state and federal reports, tax filings, and grant-related reporting.
· Prepare, distribute, and file all documents requiring the Business Manager’s signature.
· Ensure efficient procedures for purchasing, distribution, storage, and inventory of assets.
· Oversee bidding procedures for facilities and equipment, ensuring compliance and fairness.
· Administer the collection, safekeeping, and distribution of district funds.
· Maintain payroll systems and ensure accurate payroll processing.
· Record and report financial information with transparency and in accordance with legal requirements.
· Establish and supervise a comprehensive accounting program.
· Serve as a resource in employee bargaining and negotiations.
· Attend meetings as assigned by the school board or requested by the superintendent.
· Be available for flexible hours to accommodate school board and district-related meetings.
Qualifications:
