Job Description:

Surrey Public School looking for a Full-Time Special Education Teacher for the 2025-2026 School Year
 
Essential Functions

·      Develop, implement, and regularly update IEPs for assigned students in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.

·      Provide direct instruction in academic, behavioral, and life skills, tailored to each student’s individual needs and learning style.

·      Modify general education curriculum and assessments as needed to accommodate student learning needs.

·      Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, families, and service providers to support students’ educational goals.

·      Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, observations, and documentation.

·      Employ a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to reach students with diverse learning needs.

·      Foster a safe, positive, and respectful classroom environment that supports learning and student self-advocacy.

·      Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, parent conferences, and staff development activities.

·      Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical requirements related to special education services.

·      Schedule and supervise paraprofessional educator team.

 

Essential Qualifications and Skills

·      Bachelor’s degree in Special Education

·      Valid ND State Teaching License in with Special Education

·      Knowledge of IDEA, ADA, Section 504, and other relevant legislation.

·      Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

·      Ability to develop trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

·      Experience working with students across multiple disability categories and grade levels.
