Purpose Statement
The Student Intern II role provides current BPS high school or college students with authentic workplace experience, opportunities to develop career-ready skills, and some leadership roles while exploring career opportunities.
Supervisory Relationship
Reports to: Department Supervisor
Essential Functions
Lead and Mentor: Serve as lead/mentor intern.
Perform Day-to-Day Tasks: Complete entry-level tasks as assigned within the department.
Develop Skills: Acquire and develop work-related skills.
Provide Customer Service: Deliver a professional level of customer service, ensuring customer confidentiality.
Collaborate and Communicate: Work collaboratively and maintain regular communication with department team members.
Maintain Documentation: Keep appropriate documentation for assigned tasks.
Support Operations: Assist with operations, projects, and activities within the department.
Comply with Policies: Adhere to all school and district workplace policies and procedures.
Attend Meetings: Participate in staff meetings or professional development as requested by department or district leadership.
Excellence: Ensure all learners receive an exemplary education that is academically challenging and meets their social and emotional needs.

Responsibilities
Work under direct supervision using standardized routines. Assist in maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Support the goals and objectives of the department. Handle tasks and responsibilities assigned in a timely and efficient manner. Provide input and feedback to improve department processes.
Work Environment
The role generally involves sitting for 60%, walking for 20%, and standing for 20% of the time. Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling may be required. Some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling may be necessary. Significant fine finger dexterity is required. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Education
Current BPS high school student or college student.
Clearances
Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
