Job Description:
Light of Christ Catholic Schools is seeking high-energy Kids Club (After-School Program) Team Leaders to work with children ages 4-10. This position is responsible for assisting the Kids Club Director and Kids Club Supervisor to promote the development care of each Kids Club Kid (Kid). You will also help Kids grow spiritually and socially in a Christ-centered environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Supports the philosophy of the Catholic education and teach, advocate, encourage, counsel and witness in keeping with the beliefs and practices of the Catholic faith and teachers. Strive to serve as a role model for participants in their spiritual growth.
- Provides Kids with the appropriate leadership during the program.
- Develops, plans and organizes activities, games and crafts that incorporate program goals into the daily routine. Works with the Director to obtain approval for any activities, games or crafts not already approved and for purchasing any additional supplies needed.
- Provides a warm and caring atmosphere for Kids.
- Maintains open communication between Kids Club staff and school personnel.
- Responds to questions that arise with the parents by answering them or by giving parents the proper directions for obtaining the answers. Communicates with the parents during daily pick‐up.
- Maintains a safe environment for Kids.
- Submits all written correspondence to the Director for approval prior to distribution.
- Attends staff or training meetings.
- Maintains a positive attitude toward co‐workers and the school.
- Reports any problems which arise with Kids, other employees, or the school to the Kids Club Supervisor or Director.
- Completes a Kids Club Behavior Report Form, regarding concerns with Kids, for documentation pertaining to the level of concern, as needed. Communicates Kid concerns at pick up to the parent/guardian and has the form signed, with a copy given to the parent/guardian and Kids Club Director.
- Responsible for all activity and room preparations for the program.
- Keeps the room neat and orderly.
- Follows and enforces all safety policies.
- Assists with Kid check‐in/out.
- Proactively responds to any issues and concerns regarding the school.
- Makes recommendations to the Director for improvement related to equipment, supplies, facility and program needs.
- May assist with set up and moving of furniture, and may assist with room clean up at the end of the day.
- Maintains strict confidentiality on private matters pertaining to Kids and staff.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Possesses basic knowledge and understanding of school aged children.
- Good computer skills and strong human relations skills.
- Must be honest, reliable, accurate, have a neat appearance, and a courteous manner.
- Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Maintains ethical behavior in all interactions.
- Able to develop effective working relationships with others.
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and verbal instructions.
- Able to multi-task and read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Able to deal with problems involving several variables.
Working Environment/Physical Demands
The employee regularly works indoors/outdoors. The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use finger dexterity. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, bend, twist, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Location & Schedule
Cathedral Elementary School, St. Mary's Elementary School, or St. Anne Elementary School; Monday through Friday from 3:00pm to 5:30pm when school is in session.
