Job Description:

Light of Christ Catholic Schools is accepting applications for a Kids Club Director to manage the Light of Christ after-school and summer programs.  This is a full-time, 12-month position responsible for developing and maintaining a safe and inspiring environment for children in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade; hiring, training, and supervising program staff; coordinating the program enrollment process; and communicating with program stakeholders, which includes parents/guardians, staff, and building administrators.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities  

  1. Support the philosophy of Catholic education and advocate, encourage, counsel and witness in keeping with the beliefs and practices of the Catholic faith and teachers. Strive to serve as a role model for students in their spiritual growth.
  2. Lead staff in carrying out the mission and vision of Light of Christ Catholic Schools.
  3. Maintain a safe and stimulating environment for children in Pre-kindergarten through 5th grade.
  4. Communicate frequently with building administrators regarding designated space, schedule changes, etc.
  5. Collaborate with school administrators and parents, public agencies and community members to implement and maintain services for afterschool and summer programs.
  6. Hire, evaluate and oversee program staff.
  7. Initiate, design, and implement programs to meet specific needs of the school sites.
  8. Communicate enrollment process with families.
  9. Establish guidelines for proper student conduct and maintaining student discipline. Maintain high standards of student conduct and discipline with regard to due process to the rights of students.
  10. Develop calendar of summer field trips and on-site activities and arrange for bussing of students.
  11. Participate in and organize meetings, workshops, staff trainings, parent meetings, etc. in order to identify issues, gain knowledge and provide information for supporting staff.
  12. Prepare documents and reports for attendance, budget, daily activity, for administrative planning purposes.
  13. Monitor sites for safety hazards.
  14. Establish friendly and courteous relationships with children, parents and other staff members.
  15. Keep strict confidentiality on private matters pertaining to children.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Prior job-related experience in educational programming preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certified.
  • Strong human relations skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with members of the community and work in collaboration to create high quality programming.
  • Excellent organizational & managerial skills. Ability to manage 15-25 employees at multiple locations.
  • Maintain ethical behavior in all interactions.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.
  • Ability to multi-task and read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.

 

Working Environment/Physical Demands

The employee regularly works indoors, but will work outdoors on occasion for recess duty and outdoor field trips. The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to loud.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, bend, twist and use finger dexterity.  The employee is also required to speak for moderate periods of time, write, and be able to respond to and assist children with responding to fire and other emergency signals.
