Schedule: Mon-Fri Full-time

SUMMARY: The Work-based Learning Advisor shall work collaboratively with the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Director, Business Partners, and Career Development Department to secure and coordinate extended learning experiences between K-12 schools and agencies, employers, post-secondary institutions, non-profits, and appropriate work sites for learner success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
Collaboration:
Establishes and maintains a presence among employers and post-secondary institutions to promote the value in providing workplace learning experiences for all learners.
Collaborates with area businesses and professional organizations to identify annual events for learners and teacher participation to increase career awareness and exploration.
Prepares employers to provide training for learners as potential future employees.
Collaborates with each business to create a focused training agreement for learners including skills learners will learn and daily job duties.
Develops an advisory committee to assist in meeting work-based learning programs goals.
Partners with Cass County schools to align Work-Based Learning activities with workplace learning opportunities.
Assists CTSO Advisors to enhance co-curricular activities.
Assists with the promotion of the National Technical Honor Society and induction ceremony.
Partners with post-secondary institutions to advance dual credit opportunities and grant funding increase access and participation.
Develops positive, effective working relationships with learners and staff.
Engages with other district staff in the professional learning community process.
Communication:
Engages with areas businesses to identify and secure workplace experiences for all career clusters.
Communicates with post-secondary institutions to identify career events or pre-apprenticeship opportunities that align with workplace learning experiences for learners.
Communicates with school career advisors, counselors, and CTE teachers to prepare learners for workplace experiences.
Connects and shares ideas through appropriate/applicable formats to express thoughts and ideas with integrity.
Utilizes effective communication skills to facilitate connection and sharing of thoughts and ideas in multiple formats with diverse audiences.
Establishes and clearly articulates procedures and routines that promote efficiency and appropriate use of time.

Serves as a member of the Career Development Committee and Career Expo Advisory Committee to identify measurable goals and outcomes that align with workforce needs, school workplace learning goals, and learner career experiences.
Participates with CTE Advisory Committees to assist meeting preparation and compiles meeting documentation.
Revises tasks and provides task analysis for specific jobs/activities related to workplace learning goals.
Assists in the documentation of all key processes and procedures related to the position.
Promotes and supports Cooperative Work Experience procedures to increase opportunities for learners to earn credit.
Takes action to eliminate barriers to extended learning experiences and leaderships development, increasing equity and access along the way.
Documents work experiences for academic credit.
Documents Work-Based Learning Activity for appropriate/applicable credits.
Supports Choice Ready activities through the monitoring of workplace indicators.
Promotes and supports opportunities for learners to participate in leadership development and reflects on transferable career ready practices skills through work experience.
Provides learner supervision as needed. This includes, but is not limited to, locations indoors and outdoors such as field trips, public transportation, assemblies, and bus tours.
Assists, as requested, with routine clerical duties and maintains records, files, reports, and technology tools.
Utilizes district guaranteed and viable curriculum including the scope & sequence of academic and social emotional learning targets along with the defined proficiency scales.
Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the learners.
Utilizes district behavioral plans as a backbone to promote positive learner behavior.
Fosters a safe and equitable learning environment.
Utilizes the district protocol for maintaining information on learner progress.
Utilizes knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and learners.
Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the learners.

Education and/or Experience:
Must complete the ND Career and Technical Education WBL Advisor Training which will result in a CTE Initial Educator license and Work-based Learning Endorsement. To receive a Provisional Work-based Learning Coordinator Endorsement, individuals must:
Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
NDCTE reserves the right to approve applicants without a bachelor's degree through a formal appeal process.
Have at least a five-year employment history.
Complete the application for a Regular Work-based Learning Coordinator Endorsement through the North Dakota Department of Career and Technical Education on the ESPB Site.
Complete the NDCTE Work-based Learning Coordinator Training.
Provide the Department of Career and Technical Education with a plan for completing the requirements for the Workbased Learning Coordinator Endorsement

Prior experience with vocational assessment and counseling techniques.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google, video conferencing tools, or related software to maintain records and prepare reports.
Prior experience with career development and job search preparation experience is preferred.
Prior experience with scholarships and work-study processes is preferred.
Demonstrated evidence of pro-active, initiative workstyle and ability to function both independently and as part of a larger team is preferred.
A minimum of 8 years of experience in education or a business-related field (a combination of paid and unpaid experience is accepted) is preferred.
Experience working with diverse populations.
 
Language Skills:
Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence in the English language.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally, expressively, and reactively.
 
Other Skills and Abilities:
Exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment.
Adhere to the assigned work schedule by maintaining regular and punctual attendance.

Salary: Positions follow the 2025-2027 Teacher Salary Schedule.
Position is grant-funded through 2027.
