Job Description:

High School & Middle School Esports Coach

Reports To: Activities Director / Building Principal

Purpose: To develop, organize, and lead the Esports programs at Watford City High School and
Watford City Middle School. The coach promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and digital citizenship
while ensuring compliance with McKenzie County Public School District #1 and NDHSAA guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruit and supervise student participants for high school and middle school Esports teams.
• Plan and conduct practices, scrimmages, and competitions.
• Teach teamwork, leadership, and responsible digital behavior.
• Ensure all selected games meet district and NDHSAA approval.
• Maintain gaming lab safety, security, and equipment care.
• Monitor student eligibility, conduct, and academic performance.
• Communicate schedules and expectations with players, parents, and administration.
• Coordinate competition logistics, including travel and technology needs.
• Attend required district and NDHSAA coaches’ meetings and trainings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college coursework preferred.
• Experience in coaching, Esports, or related leadership preferred.
• Meets McKenzie County Public School District #1 certification and background check requirements.
• Knowledge of gaming platforms, streaming, and online competition rules.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Terms of Employment
Stipend position determined annually by the Board of Education. Schedule based on competition
calendar and participation.

Evaluation: Conducted annually by the Activities Director or designee.

Pay
$3,282.50 with 0 Years of Experience or DOE.
