Job Description:

The Head High School Girls’ Volleyball Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the girls’ volleyball program. This includes coaching the varsity team, supporting sub-varsity levels, and overseeing the overall development of volleyball within the school. The coach will foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility.

Primary Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and lead practices and competitions for the varsity girls’ volleyball team.

Oversee and support the development of the entire volleyball program, including junior varsity, freshman, and feeder programs, to ensure alignment and continuity across grade levels.

Establish a clear vision and philosophy for volleyball development within the school.

Teach sport-specific skills, strategies, and fundamentals appropriate to the high school level.

Promote student-athlete growth in leadership, character, and accountability.

Collaborate with assistant coaches, middle school coaches, and youth programs to support long-term athlete development.

Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, school administrators, and other coaches.

Monitor and support student-athletes’ academic progress and adherence to school and district policies.

Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic association rules and regulations.

Supervise team travel, equipment management, and game-day operations.

Maintain a safe and respectful environment for all participants.

Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience in volleyball.

Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, strategies, and player development.

Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate student-athletes and coaching staff.

Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Commitment to promoting a positive school culture and the values of education-based athletics.

Required certifications and background checks as mandated by the school or district.

Please note - Coaches who hold a ND teaching license - wages are reportable to the North Dakota Teacher's Fund for Retirement (TFFR).  The employee (coach) will contribute 11.75% of their salary and the District will contribute 12.75%.
