Job Summary:
WBSD7 is seeking an enthusiastic Pre-Kindergarten (PK) teacher/Coordinator to guide a classroom of young children in a variety of educational activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching fundamental concepts needed for kindergarten and working effectively in a classroom structure. Top candidates will have a creative mindset and good classroom management skills, be able to plan and execute lessons, and achieve the desired learning outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Teach children about core concepts using creative, hands-on methods of learning Plan lessons following both the ND Early Education standards and correlate to WBSD7 Kindergarten requirements.
● Encourage and monitor social interactions between children.
● Establish behavior expectations; observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions.
● Supervising children outside of class time: entering and exiting the building before and after school, during lunch, out on the playground, or on field trips. Setting up the materials and workspaces required for class activities.
● Communicate with parents, coordinate teacher/parent meetings as needed
● Assess students' learning using provided assessment materials.
● Keep accurate records and log information into the student information program (Power School).
● Create and maintain student behavior plan files as needed
● Work with cafeteria staff to provide lunch for all students in the classroom. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Directly supervises PreK classroom teachers and paraprofessionals.
· Provides ongoing instructional support, coaching, and mentorship.
· Conducts and completes all required staff evaluations, including formal observations and performance reviews.
· Supports professional growth through feedback, goal setting, and professional development.
· Ensures staff compliance with ND licensing, district policies, and Best-in-Class PreK expectations.
· Assists with onboarding, training, and support of new PreK staff.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
Knowledge of internet and E-mail software, Student Management Software, Google Suite, MS Office, basic troubleshooting skills.
KNOWLEDGE:
Strong knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practice for ages 3–5. Understanding of North Dakota Early Learning Standards and Best-in-Class PreK expectations. Ability to plan and deliver high-quality, play-based instruction. Strong instructional leadership, coaching, and communication skills. Knowledge of behavior guidance, inclusive practices, and family engagement. Strong organizational skills to balance classroom teaching and coordinator duties.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Valid North Dakota teaching license in Early Childhood or PreK required. Minimum of 3–5 years teaching experience in early childhood or PreK settings. Experience in curriculum development, classroom management, and instructional leadership. Experience supervising teachers and paraprofessionals preferred. Early Childhood certification or Kindergarten Endorsement preferred. Master’s degree in educational leadership, master’s degree required. Valid Experience in early childhood or kindergarten education. Within I year of employment: Complete CPI training. Complete CPR/First Aid/AED.
ABILITY:
Ability to lead and support multiple PreK classrooms while maintaining consistency and quality. Ability to model best-in-class instructional practices. Ability to observe classrooms and provide constructive feedback. Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and administration. Ability to ensure compliance with ND licensing and Best-in-Class program requirements. Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Serve as a lead PreK classroom teacher in a ND Best-in-Class aligned program. Act as the PreK Coordinator, supervising and supporting three additional PreK classrooms. Ensure consistency, quality, and compliance across all PreK classrooms. Provide coaching, observation, and instructional support to PreK teachers. Support curriculum implementation, assessment, and continuous program improvement. Collaborate with administration and families to promote student success and smooth transition to kindergarten.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel or crouch. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds (e.g. boxes of classroom materials, instructional equipment). Visual acuity required for reading printed materials, monitoring student behavior, and using a computer. Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and student needs. Ability to work in a dynamic classroom environment that may require quick transitions between tasks and physical settings (e.g. classroom, cafeteria, outdoors).
