Position:  Director of Transportation and Grounds (12-months)

Benefits - Single Health and Dental Insurance, Vacation Time, and PERS (ND Public Employee Retirement System)

Supervises: Buildings and grounds assistant, bus drivers, substitute bus drivers 

Qualifications: As established by the local school board, including being licensed to drive a school bus and spray school district grounds. 

Goal: To provide safe and efficient transportation and maintain the school grounds. 

THE MAJOR DUTIES OF THE DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION AND GROUNDS SHALL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 
1. Conform with all state and federal regulations regarding transportation and maintenance. 

2. Maintain safety standards in conformance with state and insurance regulations and develop a program of preventative safety. 

3. Recruit, train, and supervise all transportation personnel, and assist central office administration in hiring, transfer, promotion and release of these employees. 

4. Advise the superintendent on road hazards for decisions related to school closing during inclement weather. 

5. Cooperate with school principals and others responsible for planning school district transportation. 

6. Review specifications and make recommendations for purchasing new vehicles. 

7. Participate in bus bidding process 

8. Prepare district bus routes with assistance from the central office. 

9. Make purchases and forward all invoices to the business manager. 

10. Maintain all district-owned equipment and use preventative maintenance techniques. 

11. Submit all required reports. 

12. Take an active role in solving discipline problems occurring on school buses. 

13. Work with school principals for transportation-related complaints and special requests. 

14. Evaluate each bus driver annually. 

15. Maintain all school grounds 

16. Serve as a bus driver when needed. 

17. Adhere to school policies and procedures. 

18. Maintain the confidentiality of students and staff. Any information regarding classroom or school behavior, and/or personal information will be kept confidential and discussed only with the proper school personnel. 

19. Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools. 



Other:

Salary Range - $60,000 - $80,000 (based on qualifications and experience)
