Winter Season (Basketball): November 23rd, 2026 to March 13th, 2027
JOB SUMMARY:
The assistant high school cheerleading coach is responsible for assisting the head coach with coaching student athletes in competitive cheerleading techniques to prepare them for events or competition. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.
Responsibilities:
Works with cheerleaders during practices and meets.
Assists the head coach with organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages students to participate.
Assesses skills and assigns team positions.
Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
Coaches and instructs cheerleaders, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
Observes cheerleaders during events and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times.
Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the program.
Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, officials, and spectators.
Follows established procedures for supplies and uniforms.
Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Qualifications:
Experience as a competitive Cheerleader at the high school or college level preferred.
Effective coaching techniques and skills.
Thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
Salary (DOE): $2,500.00 - $2,778.00 per season
