Job Description:
The K–12 Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning, emotional, physical, and developmental needs. This role involves developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), adapting curriculum, and collaborating with staff and families to ensure students achieve academic and personal success in an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines
- Provide direct instruction tailored to students’ unique learning needs across K–12 grade levels
- Modify general education curriculum and teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learners
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional plans accordingly
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, support staff, and related service providers
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including progress reports and documentation
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities
- Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral development
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education (K–12 or applicable grade range)
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations (e.g., IDEA)
- Strong classroom management and organizational
