ROLE SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the middle school principal, the focus of the assistant middle school principal is to provide learner-centered environment for all learners, regardless of background or identity. The assistant middle school principal is responsible for providing educational leadership within the middle school; creating a culture of empowerment that supports a growth mindset, self-efficacy, and learner agency; and for directing, supervising, and overseeing all school operations, personnel, and activities. The assistant middle school principal prioritizes building and nurturing strong teams, supporting the implementation of personalized, competency-based learning; and continuous improvement among all educators. Portfolios are distributed among administrative positions in each middle school.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the principal in providing instructional leadership, supervision, and management of personnel in the building.
Oversees, manages, and participates in the oversight of the learners, creating a culture of empowerment that supports a growth mindset, self-efficacy, and learner agency.
Performs a variety of public relation functions within the building and community by assisting and supporting the building principal in communicating building level issues, concerns, policies, and procedures.
Monitors and assists with the security and safety of the campus. Develops and implements procedures to safeguard the safety of all educators and learners within the building.
(portfolios may be assigned within the building) Provides support to the principal in managing, overseeing, or coordinating middle level curriculum, including class scheduling, special projects, building functions or initiatives.
(portfolios may be assigned within the building) Provide vision and leadership for a comprehensive activities program at the middle level.
Assists in monitoring school programs and curriculum in accordance with various local, state, and federal rules, standards, and guidelines.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in educational leadership/administration
Valid ND Teaching License
Principal Credential applicable to Middle School
Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience
Prior experience handling student management and behavioral issues with dignity, respect and proper interpretation of organizational policies and procedures.
Prior experience coaching or working with instructional programming and leading staff.
Salary:
Admin Salary Schedule 2026-2027 at Grade 23
