Position Summary
Sheyenne Valley Special Education Unit is seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide evidence-based speech and language services for students across school settings. The SLP will support students with communication needs impacting educational access and progress, collaborate with IEP teams, and provide direct services and consultation in alignment with special education regulations and district procedures.

Key Responsibilities
    Provide assessment, identification, and treatment for students with speech, language, voice, fluency, and pragmatic communication needs.

    Conduct comprehensive evaluations and write clear, compliant evaluation reports.

    Develop and implement IEP goals and service plans aligned to student needs and educational impact.

    Provide direct therapy services (individual and group) and track progress through data collection and documentation.

    Participate in and/or lead IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and reevaluation meetings as appropriate.

    Consult with teachers, families, and staff to support generalization of communication skills across settings.

    Collaborate with special education team members (school psychologists, OTs, PTs, teachers, administrators) to support student outcomes.

    Support AAC needs by assessing, recommending, and implementing augmentative/alternative communication systems when appropriate.

    Ensure services comply with IDEA, state regulations, and district procedures, including timelines and documentation requirements.

    Provide support and training to staff as needed, related to communication strategies and accommodations.

Qualifications
Required:
    Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program

    Current (or eligible for) state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in ND

    Ability to obtain/hold appropriate school credentials (e.g., educator license) as required by the state/district

    Knowledge of special education processes, including evaluations, eligibility, IEP development, and service delivery

Preferred:
    ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) or eligibility

    School-based experience or clinical experience with pediatric populations

    Experience with AAC, autism spectrum disorders, and language-based learning needs

Work Environment / Physical Requirements
    Ability to work in school settings and manage typical school-based physical demands, including moving between classrooms and buildings as needed.

    Ability to support students in varied environments (classrooms, therapy rooms, small groups, consultative settings).
