Number of Positions: 2 Positions

Terms of Employment: Summer 2026 Program Dates: May 28th - June 26th
Start and end dates are subject to change based on Turtle Mountain Community Schools' educational programming, student participation, funding, and program needs. The program may run for a maximum number of hours as determined by the District and NYSP program requirements.

Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 2:30 pm
Applicants must be available to work flexible hours, including possible weekends, special activities, and program events.

Location: Turtle Mountain Community Schools
Primary assignment location may vary based on NYSP programming needs.

Responsible To: Athletic/Activities Director, NYSP Coordinator, and/or assigned District Administrator

Position Summary
Turtle Mountain Community Schools is seeking qualified, dependable, and student-centered applicants for the position of NYSP Summer Program Professional. This position supports the planning, instruction, supervision, and delivery of high-quality summer programming for students participating in the National Youth Sports Program.

The NYSP Summer Program Professional is responsible for providing structured instruction, supervising student participation, supporting positive student behavior, and ensuring that activities are safe, organized, age-appropriate, and aligned with the goals of the summer program. The successful applicant must demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, reliability, and sensitivity to the needs, interests, and cultural background of Turtle Mountain Community Schools students.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must submit documentation demonstrating that they meet all required qualifications. Applicants who do not attach and/or submit documentation to meet the qualifications listed may not be considered.
Must possess an associate's degree or higher; or
Must be recognized as a qualified "professional" in a relevant activity, instructional, athletic, recreational, cultural, or enrichment area. For example, a qualified golf instructor or other skilled professional may be considered based on documented experience, certification, or demonstrated expertise.
Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students of various ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
Must be sensitive to the needs, interests, and cultural background of Turtle Mountain Community Schools students.
Must possess strong instructional, organizational, and supervisory skills.
Must be able to prepare and deliver age-appropriate lessons and activities.
Must be dependable and able to report to work as scheduled.
Must be able to work flexible hours as assigned, including possible weekends and special program events.
Must show negative results on an alcohol/drug test prior to beginning employment.
Must provide proof of a valid driver's license prior to beginning employment.
Must successfully complete any required background check or employment screening required by Turtle Mountain Community Schools.
 
Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to applicants who have:
Prior experience working with youth in a school, recreation, athletic, cultural, or summer program setting.
Experience developing lesson plans, activity plans, or instructional schedules.
Certifications or documented training related to athletics, recreation, health, fitness, safety, youth development, cultural activities, or education.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate students in a positive and respectful manner.
Knowledge of Turtle Mountain Community Schools, the Turtle Mountain community, and student needs.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The NYSP Summer Program Professional shall be responsible for the following duties:
Administer skill assessments to participants at the beginning of each activity unit.
Use the results of skill assessments to guide instruction and support student growth.
Prepare block plans and lesson plans that provide appropriate progression for each age group or ability group.
Ensure lesson plans are being used and are available for review at the activity site.
Provide quality instruction that is structured, engaging, and appropriate for student needs.
Maximize student participation by making effective use of available equipment, activity space, and instructional time.
Supervise students during assigned activities and ensure student safety at all times.
Maintain appropriate student discipline and address behavior concerns in a professional manner.
Communicate student concerns, injuries, safety matters, or discipline issues to the NYSP Coordinator or assigned supervisor.
Assist with organizing, setting up, maintaining, and securing program equipment and materials.
Support program-wide activities, events, transitions, and student supervision as assigned.
Model professionalism, respect, responsibility, and positive character for students.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and program matters.
Follow all Turtle Mountain Community Schools policies, procedures, safety protocols, and supervisor directives.
Perform additional duties as assigned based on the needs of the local Summer Program.

Physical Requirements
The position may require the ability to:
Stand, walk, and actively supervise students for extended periods of time.
Lead or participate in recreational, athletic, cultural, or enrichment activities.
Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
Lift, carry, move, or set up program equipment and supplies as needed.
Respond quickly and appropriately to student safety or supervision needs.

Salary: $18.00/hour
