Job Description:

Jamestown Public School District has an opening for a Food Service Director starting July 2026.

SUMMARY:
The Food Service Director is responsible for the overall administration, leadership, compliance, financial management, and operation of the District's food service program. The Director oversees all federal and state child nutrition programs, including the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, and Summer Meals Program. The Director ensures compliance with all applicable regulations while providing high-quality, nutritious meals to students and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Food Service Management, Nutrition, Dietetics, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred
Knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Programs, including National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, and Summer Meals Program.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP principles.
Knowledge of budgeting, purchasing, inventory control, and financial management practices.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing school nutrition programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee regularly works in office, kitchen, and cafeteria environments. Duties may require standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee may be exposed to heat, cold, steam, cleaning chemicals, kitchen equipment, and noise associated with food preparation and service areas. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Administration
Direct and oversee all district food service operations.
Develop and implement departmental procedures and operational standards.
Coordinate district meal programs, including school meals, childcare meals, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, and Summer Meals Program.
Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, families, vendors, and regulatory agencies.

Financial and Operational Management
Develop and manage the food service budget.
Monitor revenues, expenditures, inventory, and purchasing activities.
Oversee procurement activities and commodity utilization.
Coordinate menu planning, food ordering, and equipment replacement needs.
Prepare reports and maintain required records.

Compliance and Nutrition Services
Ensure compliance with USDA, DPI, health department, and district requirements.
Oversee free and reduced meal programs.
Maintain food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and wellness policy compliance.
Coordinate accommodations for special dietary needs and food allergies.
Prepare for audits, reviews, and inspections.

Personnel Management
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate food service employees.
Coordinate staffing assignments and schedules.
Review and approve employee timecards.
Monitor attendance, overtime, and substitute usage.
Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.

Other Duties
Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.



Other:

This is a 260-day position with a starting salary of $70,000.
