Bismarck Public Schools is accepting applications for a Behavior and Academic Specialist for the 2026-2027 School Year.
This is a one-year contract.
The Academic and Behavior Specialist will collaborate with teachers and specialists for delivery of academic and behavior support services to students. Preferred (but not required) candidate would hold a ND teaching license and/or have experience working as a certified teacher and can obtain a ND teaching license.
Responsibilities:
The Academic and Behavior Specialist will collaborate with the instructional coach to address students’ inappropriate behaviors and provide a means to help the students become more academically successful.
The Academic and Behavior Specialist will work in collaboration with staff to provide both classroom and school-wide function-based planning for developing behavior change strategies that focus on reducing problem behavior and increasing more appropriate behavior.
Collaborate with staff regularly and engage in data-based decision making as well as ongoing review of documentation and progress monitoring to support the management of challenging behaviors and bridging academic gaps.
As well as providing classroom-based modeling, coaching, and student-specific interventions; facilitates teacher inquiry and related professional development for academic and behavior.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A Valid ND Teaching Certificate or
Licensed in social work or
A two year degree and experience working with children
Depending on qualifications, salary will be based on the teacher salary schedule
