Job Description:

The Kindred Public School District is looking for a dynamic leader to serve as the lead principal at the Kindred Elementary School.  KPSD#2 is growing school distroct located close to the Fargo-Moorhead area.  A new middle school will be opening in the fall of 2024 and Viking Pride is evident throughout the school district and communities of Davenport, Hickson, Kindred, Leonard, Oxbow, and Walcott.  

Position:  Elementary Principal (PK-6)  

Contract Length:  11 month 

Benefits:  Full Family Health and Dental

Continuing Ed. :  $450 per year credit reimbursement

NDAESP / NDCEL/NAESP  Dues : Paid by district 

Qualifications:

Valid North Dakota Elementary Teaching License

Elementary teaching experience  (min. 5 yrs)                                        

Valid North Dakota Administration Credential         

Approved Background Check               

THE MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

 

Students: 

Prepare a student handbook.

Maintain a standard of student behavior designed to command respect and minimize school and classroom interruptions. 

Oversee all scheduled activities.

Provide supervision during lunch.

Oversee student registration and create master schedule.

Maintain student records. (grades, attendance, assessment data, etc)

Teach classes if necessary.

Teachers:

Prepare teacher handbook.

Consult with teachers and superintendent in making work and class assignments for teachers.

Become proficient with the district’s teacher evaluation model.

Evaluate all teachers assigned to work in your building.

Maintain staff harmony by settling staff disputes.

Plan and conduct staff meetings as needed.

Secure substitute teachers for absent teachers.

Promote pride in good performance.

Approve emergency, professional, and personal absences for staff.

Coordinate how your staff will use data to help drive curriculum decisions.

Manage and participate in training and implementation of school initiatives like, PLC’s, RTI, MTSS, etc. in your school building.

Approve all requisitions for instructional equipment and supplies.

Orienting new personnel assigned to the school.

Parents:

Maintain effective communication to keep parents properly informed.

Send out report cards.

Maintain good public relations.

Communicate with PTO.

Mediate in the event of a teacher-parent dispute.

Plan and organize parent-teacher conferences.

Other responsibilities:

Lead staff development and implementation of curriculum/standards.

Prepare monthly reports to the school board.

Help lead School Improvement Process. 

Be active in local and state education organizations.

Oversee proper playground supervision.

Supervise custodians to ensure proper maintenance of school.

Supervise food service staff and develop procedures for efficient lunch room operations.

Emergency Drills (Fire, Tornado, Lockdown, etc)

Special Education

Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent.
